About The Butcher, The Baker Online Shop

is simple. We aim to provide the means to get fresh, affordable, locally produced food back into the heart of communities. By becoming involved, these local communities effectively have their own farm shop once a week. They are dramatically reducing food miles travelled, reducing waste, packaging and the over reliance so many of us have on the supermarkets.

want a change. It’s time to think more carefully about our food choices and The Butcher, The Baker Online Shop gives you the means to start to make a difference to the way you think about food. Good food is a joy to prepare and share. Minimising our impact on the environment as we make our food choices is something our customers hold dear. Read our customer testimonials.

grow themselves. By volunteering to act as a collection point an existing business becomes the heart of their local food community. Orders are delivered to the collection point for local customers to collect on a Thursday or Friday; all you have to do is place your order by midday on the Tuesday before. Sound like the good old days?

are local. As local as they can be whilst providing the high level of service, quality, product range and affordability you need. The Butcher, The Baker Online Shop has at its heart the desire to support local producers and give them a simple way to get their food to local customers at a fair price to both parties.

Our Prices

Are competitive, being the same as our shop price and not inflated as some on line grocery sales are, we do not charge for delivery on local sales. Because our customers order in advance we are able to balance our stock requirements more accurately , therefore minimising food waste, ensuring better, fresher products for our customers.

Our Packaging

We are trying to minimise the use of packaging and where possible we are using Biodegradable or recycled materials. Our meat packaging is able to go straight into a deep freeze if required and the label information tells you the product, weight and when packed, enabling better freezer management for you.

How it works

Customers visit each of the online shops- the greengrocer, baker, butcher, fishmonger and deli- putting exactly what they want in their basket. Orders must be placed by midday on Tuesday and will be ready for collection on Thursday or Friday from the collection point the customer chooses at the checkout. Payment can be by card via secure payment gateway (Sagepay) or by cheque on collection. Orders are delivered in numbered plastic crates, with any chilled items kept in a cool bag with an ice pack. All crates, bags and cool bags should be returned to the collection point at the customer’s convenience; most easily when collecting their next order.

A small annual subscription charge of £5 is added to the customers first order and then no further delivery or packing charges apply. All goods are offered with a no-quibble full money back guarantee and even the £5 charge will be refunded after the first order if customers do not wish to continue shopping at The Butcher, The Baker Online Shop, subject to the return of any crates and cool bags issued.

If you have any further questions, you will find our FAQS page should answer most of them or feel free to contact us via this link.
